Nanowrimo
This is a wierd word; one which even I hadn't heard till a friend told me. So, what I'm going to do is put you in contact with the basics from other sites.
(From the Wiki files)
National Novel Writing Month, shortened as NaNoWriMo (na-noh-RY-moh), is an annual internet-based creative writing project that takes place every November. NaNoWriMo challenges participants to write 50,000 words of a new novel between November 1 and 30. Despite its name, it accepts entries from around the world. The goal of NaNoWriMo is to get people writing, no matter how bad the writing is, through the end of a first draft. The idea is that many people are scared to start writing because it won't be any good, and if there's a time to celebrate length, rather than quality, more people will write an entire first draft, which they can then proceed to edit if they wish.
For more information, please check out this site: http://nanowrimo.org/
Using the basics of this event, we would like to organize something similar on a smaller scale. The word limit being kept at 600-900 words, and the time being shortened to a fortnight, we allow you to write a short story on any lines, and any genre.
You can contact us on our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/writer.foundation and can post your entries on the page itself or as a message. We will put all of these up here to read.
Awaiting your response.

Some reasons to start writing
Need some motivation to get started? Here are five good reasons to write:
Write...
1) to express yourself.
Share the best of yourself. Cut through the small talk and the chatter
to what's important; express the secret feelings and perceptions that
don't fit into polite conversation. Show your personal vision of the
world, which is unique.
2) to entertain yourself.
Writing is a challenge, an adventure. When you're in the thick of it,
you can feel thoroughly absorbed. Write to add color, excitement, and
meaning to your days.
3) to keep yourself company.
You
never have to feel lonely as long as you can write. Writing is a
conversation -- with yourself, with your future reader, with the books
that have inspired you. You can also create characters who come alive in
your imagination.
4) to live other lives.
In real life,
there are limits. In your writing, you can be anyone or anything. You
can try on different lives, become a different person for a while,
transport yourself to another place or time.
5) to touch other people.
Offer your writing as a gift to others. Your writing can move people,
make them feel intense emotions, keep them up all night passionately
turning pages. You can create characters to keep them company. You can
make their lives richer and more beautiful.

My Smile
I do everything they want, they smile;
I do as per their wish, they smile;
Their happiness allows me the moment to be ecstatic,
And then I smile.
And then comes the moment which they all wait expectantly for,
And it all comes to that.
All those happy moments, forgotten,
All those pleasurable memories, erased,
And all that remains is that predicament.
Criticism swallows me,
Anger disrupts me,
Sadness envelopes me,
And what I cannot do is smile.

Books-The Best
I don’t remember when I started my affair with the books. Was it when I was a small girl reading all my school books before the year began? Or was it as a teenager who devoured Archie comics? Or was it as a young nymph who got lost in the world of Mills & Boon? Or as an aspirant who read Lee Iacocca and Gandhiji’s experiments for inspiration? Or when I got older and the world seemed to get uglier and hence I turned to God! I really don’t know. But as it happens, I read and read and got hooked to the printed letter. The printed letter was not just a printed letter for me. It was my personal aeroplane which took flight with my imaginations into Harry Potter’s world or into Rama’s Vanvaas. Or with Holly and Gerry in P.S. I Love You; or sometimes roamed the underbelly of Mumbai’s underworld in “Shantaram”!
I don’t remember but I’m glad for the books that kept me company when my heart was aching; made me laugh when I was sad; made me cry when I didn’t want to…
BOOKS! Thank God for the BOOKS!

A Book
The torture, the pain; the agony, the horror. My body aching from the
strain of the metal point racing on my skin. The trail of black ink completely
ruining the smooth texture of my skin and engraving on it millions of strange
signs; the process making me bleed and weep from every pore on my skin. Cut into
various sizes and pieces, I lay on the floor, naked and wet from the painting
on all of my body; then pain consumes me as the huge contraption puts all of my
parts together and binds us together.
My eyes open in the suffocating innards of the plastic packing. I race towards
nowhere; my friends lying next to me, all bound by the shackles, with nowhere
to go. Helpless, stranded and asphyxiating; I lie still in the darkness, and wait
for the pain to all end.
My wits return back to me as the cover is torn off violently. Air engulfs
me and I take in a huge mouthful to return back to the world. My parts are
opened, sometimes calmly, but often without care and concern. My body aches at
this barbaric torture, but I do not speak; I adjust and I bear the pain.
Thrown around, folded, burnt and even used for the most awkward of
tasks, I go through the toughest of lives. I hope for immense care and respect,
but all I get is the pain, which I endure with pleasure; as I bring on faces
the best creation of God- happiness and smiles.
I educate, I teach, I help, I support. I do everything to make the
world a better place to live. All I get in return is not admirable. This does
make you wonder what or who I am. I am a book. I go through unimaginable
circumstances, but I adapt.
PS: This is a tale of the books we use daily. Please treat books with
respect and do not harm them in any way.
